Sliema -- so far

The Beach in Sliema -

For you knowledge, ---> a lot of the beaches in Malta are not sandy.  The few sandy beaches that are worthy of being called sand beaches are up north on the island (about an hour bus ride away) while I am in the southern part.  However there are basically flat rocks along the edge of the Mediterranean that work just fine.  (it sounds uncomfortable but in fact I like it, and it's just down the street from where I get off the ferry so I can go after class each day and do the readings for the next day-- all of law school should be like this (; )

So here are some pictures taken of the beach, from the beach, and on the Strand (main road in Sliema) near the beach.

Beautiful Water!  Just wait for the picture of Comino even more beautiful and so clear!

The ones following these words are various views of the beach.
This is a private hotel area but it is right beside the beach!

from high above walkway again.

I'd also like to mention that it never rains here!  Tonight makes two weeks since I have been here and I have not seen a single rain drop.  And I have seen faint clouds maybe two or three times.

It is always a beach day in Malta.  Mid 80s (which means ridiculously humid and hot) and sunny everyday!  :) Loving every minute!

I think Malta should have a tagline when they are advertising vacations here.  "Malta -- Where the sun never takes a vacation day!"  I think it's genius and I know it is the truth!

Cool tradition of people leaving locks on the railing of the walkway that looks out over the beach. I might leave one before I leave this beautiful Island.  We shall see if I feel like leaving my mark in the country.  Though I am sure they just cut them off.   (I should mention this walkway connects to a 3 story mall on the Strand)

These are views taken from on the beach ---

Valletta!

zoomed in.
In the picture above you can see the high walls and the water front right before them. That is where I get off the ferry/water taxi.   As my roommate and I have learned from attempting different routes up hill to class these walls are doing their job.  They were built to protect the city from invasion and let me tell you they do.  You walk practically in a circle from the water front just to get to the main roads of the city.  But it's an amazing experience that I have every morning of class and there are no complaints here!
did I mention I love this country?!

There will be more in this Sliema post when I've slept.  It's late here.  Enjoy these for now!  :)
